﹡ A three nos product, no academic background, no formal diploma and no authorized titles. He has been to the countryside, been to London, been to business, and been a laid-off worker.
﹡ Now he is:
president of Qingdao Maik Stationery Co., Ltd.
president of Qingdao Maik Pen Making Co.,Ltd.
president of Qingdao Maik Foreign Language School, and
deputy director of the Chorus of Qingdao Opera House.
﹡ In 1980, he was assigned to Shandong Animal By-products Imp & Exp Corporation doing business with British and American clients. He got that chance after passing the examination organized by Shandong Personnel Bureau and Shandong Foreign Trade Bureau. That was in the context of a national campaign advocated by Deng Xiaoping named “Selecting Talents from Grassroots”.
﹡ 1985-1986, he worked in Sanli Company, London. Later on, he has visited many European countries for many times for business investigations and negotiations.
﹡ In 1991, he translated into English a speech entitled On the Advantage of Shandong Peninsular addressed by Qingdao’s former Mayor Mr. Yu Zhengsheng at an international conference and an article entitled On the Programme of Qingdao Free Economic Zone, which was delivered to the then prime minister of Singapore Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, who was paying a visit to Qingdao.
﹡ In 1992, he acted as an interpreter for a Qingdao government delegation visiting the United States.
﹡ In 1991, he was engaged by the Qingdao Foreign Trade Bureau as the sole English training teacher for candidates preparing for the National Foreign Trade Examination.
﹡ In 1992, among 80 teachers of English in Qingdao TV University, he was selected as the only Excellent Teacher .
﹡ For many years he has been the exclusive sponsor of the Qingdao Maik Cup Queen’s English Speaking Contest organized by Qingdao Educational Bureau.
﹡ During his 20 years of intermittent amateur teaching career, 4 of his disciples have ranked on the top place in the national University Entrance English examination in Qingdao for 4 successive years.
﹡ He is honored as the first man in China to promote the Queen’s English, as he first put forward the concept of “Queen’s English”. His essay entitled Briefly on the Queen’s English was published by a number of newspapers and periodicals including the Hong Kong Contemporary Education, China New Education and the Guangming Daily etc. His essay entitled The Use of Horizontal Line in the English Falling and Rising Tone provides a very effective method for the English intonation teaching in China.
﹡ In 2009, he was selected as the judge for the first Qingdao Foreign Teachers English Teaching Contest organized jointly by the Qingdao Personnel Bureau, the Qingdao Educational Bureau and the Qingdao Foreign Experts Bureau.

﹡ He frequently gives speeches in English to schools, universities and teachers’ training schools in Qingdao, demonstrating Queen’s English and imparting the teaching and learning methods.
